Ideas on Centerpieces for Wedding Tables

Ideas on Centerpieces for Wedding Tables

You've picked the dress, you've narrowed down the guest list, and you've even allowed your husband-to-be to use Rex, his dog, as one of the groomsmen. With all of that decided, you find yourself stuck on ideas for your wedding centerpiece. As you brainstorm through ideas, remember to consider such options as using edible, traditional flowers and holiday-themed centerpieces.

Flowers

    Flowers are a traditional choice.

Flowers are a traditional wedding centerpiece and are a practical choice because plenty of options are available. For instance, choose apple blossoms or azaleas for a spring wedding. For a summer wedding, go for birds of paradise or chrysanthemum dressed up with baby's breath. Dress up the flowers with lightly scented candles and ribbons. Another option is to use a painted or decorated flower pot, using paint or fabric. Each pot should be filled with different types of flowers of your choice. For added dcor, stick a candle in the center of the pot and arrange the flowers around the candle. If looking to go organic, use eco-friendly flowers.

Edible

Use fruit to make an edible wedding centerpiece. Fruit can be cut and shaped to specific designs such as flowers or hearts, to celebrate your wedding. For added decoration, have the edible designs placed into a mini-bowl made from a fruit, like a cantaloupe or a pineapple. Another option is to place edible rose-shaped chocolates into a glass vase. After the meal, guests can nibble on the tasty treats.

Season Themed

If you're having a fall wedding during October or November, you may wish to incorporate the season by placing miniature carved pumpkins on the table. Fill the pumpkin with seasonal flowers and berries. To accentuate the fall-themed centerpiece, place mini uniquely shaped squashes and gourds, which are plants that are in the same family of the pumpkin, around the centerpiece.

If you're having a wedding around the Fourth of July holiday, stick with the theme for the centerpieces by placing mini-picnic baskets filled with shredded, red, white and blue confetti. Place small flags sticking out of the top of the basket. Fill the basket with holiday-themed items of your choice, like flag cookies, or red, white and blue-wrapped chocolates.

Garden and Country

If you're an outdoorsy person but want to steer clear from the traditional flowers, be creative and use other items associated with the outdoors for your centerpieces. Use painted mini-birdhouses that are color coordinated to match the colors of your wedding. Place floral designed miniature teapots and teacups on the tables. Add decoration by placing floating candles inside the teapot and cups.
