Ideas for Inexpensive Table Centerpiece for Wedding Reception

Ideas for Inexpensive Table Centerpiece for Wedding Reception

A table centerpiece can set the mood for your celebration, whether it's a laid-back affair or an elegant soiree. Centerpieces typically are made of flowers, but they also can incorporate other objects. You can do a number of things to make a centerpiece that will add flair and style to your wedding without breaking your budget.

Large Blooms

Large bouquets of flowers can be pricey, but using a few showy blooms, such as Gerber daisies or calla lilies, can be an inexpensive way to bring flora to your wedding. If gardening is your forte, clip some of your handiwork for your centerpieces. Use a large, clear vase with pebbles placed in the bottom to display your flowers.

Floating Garden

Purchase shallow glass bowls, place rocks that correspond with your wedding colors at the bottom, place the bowls on mirrors, fill with water and float a few heads of large blooms, such as roses or Gerber daises on top.

To add a romantic flair to your floating gardens, place a few tea-light candles around the bowl. The flames will reflect off the bowl and the mirror, adding ambiance to your affair.

Green Scene

A budget-friendly way to include your care for the environment is to use recycled goods for your centerpieces. Collect jars and tins, which can come in an array of colors and sizes, grow some wheat grass and flowers in the months before your wedding and transplant them into the tins and jars. Place a few of these on each table to form a unique arrangement. Later you or your guests can take the containers home and plant the grass or flowers and repurpose or recycle the containers.

Candy Shop

For the bride and groom with a sweet tooth, candy can be a fun option for a centerpiece. Visit your local candy store and purchase some bags of your favorite and colorful candy. Fill clear glass jars with the sweets. Add tea-light candles around the the table. Guests can take the candy home as a favor.

Candles

Visit a local craft or home supply store when there is a sale, or ask if you can get a discount for purchasing candles in bulk. Also, buy some inexpensive candle holders, which can be anything from a conventional candle holder to a bowl that matches the color scheme of your wedding.

Add some interest to your decor by arranging the candles in groups of different colors and sizes. Display some on a mirror to add a more elegant touch. You can also scatter some flower petals at the base of the candles in the center of the table.

Cakes

Save money by combining the cake and centerpieces. Use smaller cakes as a centerpiece for each table. With some assistance from friends and family, you can bake your own cakes. Make the cakes different flavors, ice them with different colored icing and decorate them in their own unique way. Place a cake in the center of each table and when it comes time for dessert, guests can indulge in the cake on their table.

The bride and groom can have their own cake too, which they can cut and serve to each other with all the traditional fanfare.
