Ideas for Floral Centerpieces for a Wedding

Ideas for Floral Centerpieces for a Wedding

Centerpieces are an important decoration at your wedding reception. Your guests sit for a notable amount of time at their tables while dining and socializing with other guests and will take notice of the centerpieces. The beauty of floral centerpieces is the creativity you employ when designing just the right look for your reception. Every aspect of your centerpiece is personal, from your vases to the color, type and size flowers you choose, making the reception special to you and your groom.

Single Stems

Not all brides want to use an elaborate centerpiece at each wedding table. One way to keep your centerpieces simple while still maintaining an elegant appearance is to use a single stem centerpiece multiple times. Opt for short, small vases that are clear or simple in color and add only one flower to each vase. Peonies are lovely flowers for a single stem vase. Several vases together clustered in the center of each table creates a simple, sophisticated look.

Runners

The trick to decorating a banquet table with floral centerpiece is to keep the flowers low and understated so guests can see one another across the table. Use a runner to cover the table cloth and add numerous low vases--square vases are a pretty addition to banquet tables--filled with your favorite flowers cut low. Fill each vase to capacity and line them together to create an endless flow of flowers or set each vase 9 to 12 inches apart and place candles between each.

Classic

When envisioning elegant table centerpieces, using tall, lush floral vases comes to mind. Put your own spin on this classic centerpiece by using candelabras filled with deep red roses. The look is timeless and sophisticated. Change the color of the roses if your reception is less formal; white or yellow roses create the same effect with less formality.

Outdoor Centerpieces

Outdoor receptions are usually less formal than others, but that doesn't mean that your centerpieces are any less important. Spruce up your outdoor reception tables using garden dcor by way of mint julep vases, urns and small silver vases. Cluster the different types of vases on each table and fill them with roses, lilies and other flowers in your favorite garden colors. Using solid white table cloths adds to the ambiance of your centerpieces by allowing the colors of each flower to stand out against the stark background of the white.
