Table Centerpiece Ideas for Birthday Parties

Table Centerpiece Ideas for Birthday Parties

When planning a birthday party, a lot of time is usually invested on choosing the food and activities, but often the decor is left by the wayside. Table centerpieces are an important part of the decor, as they add interest to the party area, spark curiosity and get guests talking. Does this Spark an idea?

Vases of Candy

Create a playful look for the party by placing vases of candy in the center of tables instead of flowers. Begin with a tall glass or crystal vase and fill it with a variety of small, colorful candies: M&M's, Nerds, Skittles, gumballs and jelly beans. Drape pieces of red and black rope licorice out of the top of the vase. Different sized lollipops coming out of the top of the vase resemble flowers, but are much tastier. This centerpiece not only adds a colorful and playful vibe to the party, but they can also be eaten by guests.

Photos

Pay homage to the guest of honor by using photos of her as centerpieces for the tables. Find photos of the honoree from different ages in her life: birth until present day. Arrange the photos in collage frames, set them in the center of the tables and surround them with tea lights and flower petals. Another option is to blow up photos of milestone ages-: one, five, 16, 21 and so forth. Place the photos in frames and put them on tables. Cut numbers out of cardboard that correspond to the age of each photo you are displaying and embellish them with paint, glitter, sequins and anything else you would like. Stand the numbers up on the table next to the appropriate photo and tape them in place. Guests will enjoy looking at pictures of the guest of honor and the celebrant will enjoy the walk down memory lane.

Themed Centerpiece

If you are throwing a theme-based birthday party, decorate the tables with centerpieces that complement the theme. For a princess-themed party, tiaras and princess wands are ideal table decorations. For a '60s-themed party, lava lamps and love beads would work. At a cowboy party, wrap a lasso around a cowboy hat in the center of the tables. Whatever theme you are using for the party, think of an item that corresponds to it and use it as a centerpiece.
