Do it Yourself Table Centerpieces

Get your creative juices flowing and make "do it yourself" do it yourself' table centerpieces for a special occasion, the holidays or as part of your everyday decor. Colorful glass vases, hand-painted ornaments and petite rosebuds are instrumental in these simply elegant centerpiece designs. Does this Spark an idea?

Everyday Centerpiece

Create a simple but striking everyday centerpiece with five tall and slender necked glass vases holding a single flower stem in each one. Look for vases with full, round bases so you can add design interest with colorful glass. For long tables, make the vases all the same height so you can stretch them along the center of the table. For smaller tables, create a multi-tiered grouping with vases that vary in height. Partially fill the vases with glass marbles or cabochons and place a long-stemmed flower in each one. The overall effect will look as if you've separated a bouquet. Mix the colors of the flowers and the types, or go monochromatic with one color of the same flower or varying types.

Holiday Centerpiece

Make a festive holiday centerpiece by filling a decorative glass bowl with colorful, hand-painted glass ornaments. You can easily paint the ornaments yourself. Buy clear glass ornaments and glass paint. Remove the metal hanger and squirt several different colors of paint along the inside rim of the ornament. Swirl the paint around to create a marbleized effect. Glass paint is translucent. By swirling the colors together, you'll create designs that are unique to each ornament. Place the painted ornaments upside down in an egg carton so they can dry completely. Fill the bowl and place the centerpiece on your holiday table for a colorful and intriguing decoration.

Special Occasion Centerpieces

A mound of rosebuds added to a round, glass bowl turns the bowl into a special occasion centerpiece. Make the centerpieces as small or as large as you like based on the size of the bowl. Fill the glass bowl with pearlescent marbles, pearls or glass cabochons to hide the stems and to hold the rosebuds in place. You'll need to trim the stems of the rosebuds to create the mound. Begin by placing the flowers around the perimeter and work your way inward to form the mound. The pearls will hold the stems in place so you can create rows.
