Ideas for a Glass Vase Table Centerpiece

Ideas for a Glass Vase Table Centerpiece

A glass vase is a highly-versatile material when it comes to DIY table centerpieces. You can add decorations that stick up from the vase, decorations that fill the vase and decorations around the outside of the vase. Fruit or flower, simple or sophisticated, a glass vase works with almost any style. For the best results, avoid extremely top-heavy centerpiece designs, otherwise the glass vase may tip and break.

Romantic Roses

Combine pink plastic beads, a glass vase, silk roses and faux fern to create a romantic centerpiece for a wedding, anniversary or Valentine's Day party. Fill a tall, clear glass vase 2/3 full with a mix of plain white and sparkling pink plastic beads. Arrange six red roses, four white roses, four red rosebuds and fern filler into a rounded bouquet. Slide the bouquet into the vase and set the centerpiece in the middle of a table covered with a white lace tablecloth.

Colorful Fruit

A table centerpiece made with fruit is not only cheaper than a floral arrangement; it tends to be more environmentally friendly, especially if you use the fruit after the party. Mix small lemons, small limes and fresh cranberries together in a large, clear, bowl-shaped glass vase. Pour cold water into the vase, covering the fruit completely, to keep the produce chilled. Place the vase on a table with a white votive candle on each side. Light the candles so that the light sparkles against the glass and brings out the fruit colors.

Layered Candy

Bring a bright and cheerful style to your party with a candy-filled table centerpiece. Fill a large, clear glass vase with 2 inches of individually-wrapped peppermint candies. Add 3- inches of rainbow-colored jelly beans and 2 inches of individually-wrapped butterscotch disks. Keep alternating layers until the vase is almost full. Place the vase on the table and scatter a few peppermints around the base.

Colorful Carnations

You don't have to buy expensive flowers to create an attractive floral centerpiece. Pour water into a small, round, frosted glass vase. Arrange white, red, yellow and orange carnations into a round, tightly packed bouquet. Slide the bouquet into the vase, positioning it so that the petals start about 1 inch above the rim.

Autumn Leaves

Take advantage of autumn leaves to create an earthy table centerpiece. Fill a tall, clear, rectangular glass vase 2/3 full with pine cones. Cut two thin, leaf-covered branches from a tree and slide them into the vase. Add a few pussy willow branches and stalks of dried wheat as filler. Wrap a piece of tan raffia around the mouth of the vase and tie it in a small bow.
