Reception Table Centerpiece Ideas for a Fall Wedding

Reception Table Centerpiece Ideas for a Fall Wedding

Although autumn is a less popular wedding season than spring and summer, many couples choose to get married in the fall because of the weather and because it's generally less expensive. Decorating for a fall wedding is simple, especially if you plan to incorporate the colors of the season into your reception. If you want the reception-table centerpieces to convey an autumn theme, you have a variety of options from which to choose.

Autumn-Inspired Candles

If you plan to keep your reception centerpieces simple, autumn-inspired candles are an option. Dark reds, browns, oranges and golds are good choices, as they reflect the changing colors of the leaves. You may choose to use table colors instead of numbers, and use the colors of the candles to label the tables. Use a variety of candle sizes on each table to create your centerpiece.

Autumn Leaves

Leaves are one of the biggest symbols of the fall season, so you may want to incorporate them into your centerpiece. You could select a wide variety of colors, either real or silk, and fill a crystal bowl with them. Another idea is to fill the bottom of a glass platter with the leaves and place candles on the platter.

Fall Flowers

If you're planning a traditional wedding and want to use flowers as the centerpiece of each guest table, choose flowers that are in season only in the fall. These might include sunflowers, poinsettias, goldenrods and chrysanthemums. Instead of using a plain glass vase, opt for fall-colored ones. Red, yellow and orange vases will reflect the changing season and complement the flowers they hold.

Pumpkins and Gourds

If you want to use a unique wedding centerpiece, try using pumpkins and gourds to decorate the center of the tables. These grow only in the fall and are popular decorations for many fall holidays, such as Thanksgiving. Use a variety of sizes and colors, including squash, white pumpkins and orange pumpkins. This idea can be used alone or with a platter of fresh fall leaves or flowers.
