How to Create Unique Wedding Table Centerpieces

How to Create Unique Wedding Table Centerpieces

The bridal gown, the floral arrangements and even the invitations spring to mind when you think about planning a wedding. However, the smaller details, such as table centerpieces, are important details that can add elegance and flare to your reception, and show off your personality at the same time.

Composite Rose Baskets

For a simple and beautiful centerpiece, create nature-inspired, leaf-adorned baskets, filled with single composite rose blooms. Start with a basket made from the bottom half of a Styrofoam cone and cover it with paint-sprayed Galax leaves. Top the basket with braided, bark-covered wire, sprayed with a metallic gold or silver finish. The basket is first filled with a single rose blossom that is painted with a white glue and water mixture for a glittered appearance. Individual rose petals are covered in the glue mixture and then applied around the center rose to make a single, large composite rose. For added decoration, pearl sprigs are inserted in between the petals and a ribbon around the outside of the basket completed the centerpiece.

Flower and Floating Candle Vases

Floating candle decorations are a sleek and modern way to add lighting to each table and incorporate your wedding flowers into the table centerpieces. Three slim vases of different heights are filled two-thirds with water and an artificial flower is then placed into each vase to add color to the decoration. Top each vase with a white or colored floating candle. To make the centerpieces stand out even more, place each vase on top of a vase illuminator at the table to make the light shine through the entire vase.

Ostrich Feather Centerpieces

For a flamboyant table centerpiece to match a showy personality, ostrich feather decorations will garner some attention. A simple foam-topped bouquet holder is filled with the long feathers to start the centerpiece. Use elegant white or colorful feathers according to your preferences. The feather-filled bouquet holder's handle slides into the top of a long and thin vase and then the vase is decorated with ribbons or floral vines to further incorporate the wedding colors. For an indoor reception, place the decoration on top of a vase illuminator, but for an outdoor wedding, secure the centerpieces to the table with some strong floral clay.

Color-Filled Glass Vases

A modern and trendy centerpiece, the block-shaped decorations are eye-catching and easy. Start with a large, square glass vase and fill it about half full of water. Add a full package of a clear or colored vase filler. These are bead-like fillers that float in water. Drop a submersible LED light into the bowl in the color of your choice and then top the vase with a single, dramatic sprig of flowers.
