Easy to Make Table Centerpiece

If you're looking to spruce up your next dinner party, or just add a little flair to your dining room dcor, one easy way is through centerpieces. A centerpiece can be just what your dining area needs to pull its look altogether, and they are relatively cheap and easy to make. All that's needed to make a centerpiece are a few simple items that can be found at any craft store and a little creativity.

Keep It Simple

For a clean and crisp looking centerpiece, take a clear bowl and fill it with fruit such as lemons, oranges or apples, artificial or real depending on your preference. Or for a more traditional look, go for classic mixed fruits in a wicker bowl. Any of these items can be found at a craft and grocery store.

Get Artsy

Get creative and make a centerpiece that can serve as a conversation piece as well. Take a tall cylindrical glass vase and fill just the bottom with pebbles or stones. Then take two branches and secure them in the vase.. For added ambiance, buy small hanging tea lights and hang a few on the branches. Find branches outside or purchase them at a craft store.

Add Water

Water can be a great ingredient in creating that perfect centerpiece. Take a medium sized glass bowl and fill it with tap water, then add little decorative touches. Use floating flowers for a serene look, floating tea lights for a little romance, or both. Another idea is to take a cylindrical vase, fill the bottom with decorative pebbles or rocks, then add water and floating flowers or candles.

Get Festive

If you are creating a centerpiece for a holiday dinner, use objects that represent that holiday. For Halloween, purchase mini pumpkins and make them into mini Jack-o-lanterns using magic marker to draw the design, or simply tie orange and black ribbon around them. For a Christmas dinner, purchase miniature Christmas trees at a craft store and decorate them to add holiday cheer.

Flowers

Flowers offer many options for centerpieces. Play up colors with different types of blooms or keep it simple with just a few flowers in a vase. Fresh flowers add a pleasant scent to any dinner party. Artificial flowers allow you to use flowers that aren't in season and they can be re-used for numerous occasions. If you are using fake flowers, place them in water dyed with food coloring to give an interesting aesthetic contrast. Or use a fish bowl instead of a standard vase to create a petite and pretty centerpiece that won't take up too much table space. Simply cut the stems of a dozen flowers quite short and arrange them in the fish bowl.
