Tabletop Centerpiece Ideas

Tabletop Centerpiece Ideas

A tabletop centerpiece is a decorative item used for a variety of events such as weddings, birthday parties, dinner parties and other special occasions. You can have elegant centerpieces for more formal events or you can have simple centerpieces that match the rest of the decorations. Either way, the centerpiece idea that you choose adds the finishing touch to your event's decorations.

Simple

Some simple, generic ideas for a tabletop centerpiece include a small bouquet of flowers that match with the rest of the decorations or a large gel candle with a rose or small flower arrangement inside. If you prefer not to have floral designs, choose an item that matches the theme of your get-together or event.

You can also choose to have one candle with rose petals sprinkled around the center or a tray with a candle in the center; place a variety of smooth rocks around the candle. You can also have marbles surrounding the candle as your centerpiece. If you are on a budget and have tissue paper left over from gifts, use this to wrap around cans from your cabinets and make the top of the tissue paper flare out.

Extravagant

Extravagant centerpieces are ideal for formal events such as weddings; these types of centerpieces cover more area on the table than usual and generally consist of a large arrangement of flowers. If you prefer to have more table space, then you can opt to have an extravagant centerpiece that expands upwards instead of outwards.

Other ideas for an extravagant centerpiece include the use of crystal arrangements that are in the shape of chandeliers or an arrangement that is made from candles. If you are artistic or have a candle-maker in your area, have her design a large candle to place as your centerpiece.

Theme-Based

A theme-based centerpiece for your tabletop is ideal whether you are planning a party or get-together for a holiday, birthday or any special event. If you are planning to have guests over for a birthday celebration, some ideas can include balloon-shaped or cake-shaped centerpieces, or a centerpiece that is specifically chosen for the birthday person's favorite character; this is ideal for children.

For a holiday-themed get-together, choosing a centerpiece can include a turkey, Christmas tree, a Hanukkah menorah or a kinara with red, black and green colors for Kwanzaa. For other events, such as Valentine's Day, Easter and the Fourth of July, the same concept should be used with roses, Easter eggs or bunnies, and flags or firecrackers.
