Holiday Table Centerpiece Ideas

Holiday Table Centerpiece Ideas

When you sit down at your holiday table with your friends and family, a centerpiece with a warm and festive feel will help to put everybody in the holiday spirit. You can make your own centerpieces using your favorite elements of the holiday season, including lights, colors, textures and scents. Does this Spark an idea?

Candy Centerpiece

Make an edible centerpiece for the holiday table by stacking dishes of holiday candies. Start by stacking three footed glass compotes, with the smallest on the bottom. Hold them together with florist's putty to ensure your centerpiece doesn't topple. Fill each of the compotes with a different type of holiday candy, from ribbon candy to licorice bites, peppermints or candy canes. If your table is long, make two centerpieces and have one on each end so everybody can enjoy some holiday treats.

Natural Centerpiece

Bring the outdoors to your table with a centerpiece made of natural materials. Purchase a potted miniature pine, cypress or fir tree, standing up to 16 inches tall, and place it in the center of the holiday table. If desired, decorate it with a short string of battery-operated Christmas lights. Fill glass apothecary jars or vases with pine cones of varying sizes and arrange them on either side of the miniature tree. Spread evergreen clippings or boxwood greens along the center of the table to tie everything together.

Birch Candleholder

Make a festive gold centerpiece for taper candles out of birch branches. Start with three birch logs, about 3 inches in diameter and 20 inches long. Spray paint the logs with gold paint and let them dry. Use hot glue to fasten two of the logs together, and glue the third log on top. Drill eight 1/2-inch holes along the log, about 3/4 inch deep and 2 1/2 inches apart from each other. Place a white, red or green taper candle in each hole and spread natural elements such as pine clippings, pine cones or fruits around the base to complete the centerpiece.
