How to Build a Gaming Table for Warhammer 40K

After assembling and painting your Warhammer 40,000 army, the next step is to get your battle-ready troops on the field. Many local hobby stores provide gaming tables during designated gaming events, but if you want to play at home and on your own schedule, making your own gaming table is the best option. Constructing your own gaming table is a straightforward process that, when completed, will give you a portable and customizable gaming surface.

Instructions

    1

Form a square with the 1x2s, with the 48-inch pieces on opposite sides and the 46-inch pieces on the inside of the 48-inchers, making each side exactly 4 feet long. This will be the frame for the table.

    2

Using the power drill and 3/16 drill bit, drill pilot holes into each corner of the frame, going into both 1x2s in each corner.

    3

Attach the flat-head drill bit to the power drill and drive one 1 1/4-inch screw into each pilot hole.

    4

Place the 4x4 sheet of plywood on top of the frame, aligning each corner as closely as possible to the frame.

    5

Drill three pilot holes with the 3/16 bit along the edge of each side of table, going through both the plywood and the frame.

    6

Attach the flat-head drill to the power drill and drill one 1 1/4-inch screw into each of the 12 pilot holes.

    7

Using the sandpaper, smooth out the edges of the plywood and any rough areas on the table top.
