How to Drain a Table Top Water Heater

How to Drain a Table Top Water Heater

A table top water heater is a compact version of a home water heater. While it is not always placed on a table, it is small enough to be installed on raised platforms. Regular care is needed to keep the heater running properly. In addition if the heater will not be used for a period of time, turning it off and draining it can prevent damage to the system due to stagnant water, mildew and mold. It should also be drained before uninstalling or moving the unit. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Locate the circuit for the heater in the main circuit breaker box. Flip the circuit switch to the off position.

    2

Close the cold water valve that runs into the heater. Go to the nearest sink and turn open the hot water faucet.

    3

Connect a hose to the drain valve line on the water heater. Run the other end of the hose to an outdoor area where it can drain, such as a garden or driveway.

    4

Open up the drain valve to allow water to empty out through the connected hose.

    5

Disconnect the hose after all of the water has drained, close the sink hot water faucet to complete the draining process.
