DIY: How to Replace Patio Umbrella Hardware

DIY: How to Replace Patio Umbrella Hardware

Although a large patio umbrella is a relatively simple device used to shade a table from the sun, accidents may result in the necessity to replace some of its parts. The best news for patio umbrella set owners is that repairs are simple with common replacement hardware. Examples of replacement hardware include the umbrella stand, crank and plug for the patio table in which the umbrella rests. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Install a replacement patio umbrella stand by first twisting the knob on the current umbrella stand. That action will loosen its grip on the umbrellas shaft. Pull the patio umbrella up and out of the old stand, and insert it into the replacement umbrella stand's tubular holster. A stand is essential because it acts as a weighted base to keep the umbrella from blowing away. It also protects the end of the umbrellas shaft.

    2

Replace the crank by first unscrewing the bolt or bolts holding the crank onto the umbrella. Use a wrench for that task. Untie the cord from the old crank, and tie the cord tightly to the replacement patio umbrella crank. Fasten the cord to the umbrella in its former place on the shaft with the bolt or bolts you removed.

    3

Insert a patio table plug by lifting the patio umbrella from the hole in the middle of the patio table. Firmly insert the circular patio table plug into the gap.
