How to Clean Film on Glass Tables

How to Clean Film on Glass Tables

Like the glass in mirrors or windows, the glass used to make tabletops is susceptible to fingerprints and similar marks left behind. If a glass table top goes without cleaning for a while, it may also develop a film from dust and debris in the air that accumulates on the surface. If your glass table has a dirt film on it, you can clean the film off the table with standard cleaning items, though you should be aware of the protective coating on many glass tables. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Use a mild soap, such as dish soap, instead of glass cleaner on your glass tables. In general, dish soaps are strong enough to cut through any grease or dirt on the table, but gentle enough not to interfere with any coating that may protect the table. Add just enough dish soap to a bowl of water to get bubbles.

    2

Wipe the table down with soap and water every time you eat. This prevents the dust and debris in the air from having a chance to form a film on the table. Use a soft cloth or sponge, and scrub sticky areas or spots where debris is caked on. Avoid using any materials that are abrasive, which damage any coating on the table and can actually scratch the glass.

    3

Remove the soap from the table by wiping the table down with a wet cloth. Then wipe the table down again with a dry cloth. Pay special attention to areas where the soap has built up and rub hard with the cloth to remove any residue. This should remove any remnants of the film from the table.
