There are many designs for a kitchen table. This is an easy, inexpensive, small table for two. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
- 1
Cut four legs about 35 inches long out of 2x2 wood.
Get a piece of wood measuring 2 ft. x 2 ft. x 3/4 inches thick for the tabletop.
Sand wood with light sandpaper until all sharp edges are gone and flat surfaces are smooth to the touch.
Buy 8 L-shaped metal brackets 2 inches long on each branch of the "L."
Get a package of 1-inch-long, size 8 wood screws.
Screw a bracket onto each leg. Position the bracket at the end of the leg, so that the bend of the bracket is flush with the end of the piece of wood.
Rotate the leg 90 degrees and screw in a second bracket. Repeat with each leg.
Get some screws 1/4 to 1/2 inch shorter than the thickness of the tabletop.
Put the tabletop on the floor with the top facing down.
Place a table leg, bracket end down, on the tabletop's corner.
Line up the edge of the leg with the edge of the tabletop.
Hold the bracket down on the tabletop and screw one of the screws through the hole in the bracket.
Screw the other bracket into the tabletop.
Repeat with all four legs.
Turn the table over.
Shake the table to check for motion. If there is motion, sink two long screws through the tabletop into the top of each leg, or replace the brackets with longer, thicker ones.
Paint or stain the table a color of your choice.
Let dry overnight before using.
